Dr. MEG CHOLACK AWUNTI!!!
She was 2 years old when I first got to meet her, right here in Charlotte, NC. As they say in these parts, she wasn't even "knee high to a grasshopper" then.
She breezed her way through Elementary School and then, unlike the vast majority of us African Immigrant Parents, her parents decided to have her get her Secondary Education "BACK HOME", and once that decision was made, SAKER BAPTIST COLLEGE was the institution selected! (Duh! LOL!!!)
So, in 2008, off went this born-and-raised-in-America 12 year old child to a BOARDING SCHOOL whose challenges - and BLESSINGS, are not news to any of us! She graduated from form 5 in 2013, and upon returning to the States, she got into a middle college program which enabled her to take college classes while completing high school! (SMART MOVE!!!!)
She graduated from Levine Middle College High School in 2015, and started at Wingate University during the fall of 2015, enrolling in the pre-pharmacy track.
Now, since she had already taken most of her credits in high school, she started her pharmacy school application process during the fall of her freshman year. She therefore started her pharmacy school program at Wingate University School of Pharmacy in the fall of 2016 and recently graduated from the program in May 2020!!!
6-paneled, girdle-requiring, cross-no-gutter skirts and equally restrictive blouses, plus Mount Kilimanjaro-high GELEs had been reserved to grace that Graduation Ceremony - and the subsequent party but COVID-19 changed those plans - as in, DANG! What it cannot change though, is the FACT that our CHOLACK has EARNED that degree, fair and square nor can it, in any way, shape or form, decrease the intensity of the PRIDE she has brought us all!!!!

There's a chance someone might not have so, for their sake, I need to explain WHAT/WHO they are, and I believe the best way to do that is to simply cite what they themselves state as their goal, on their own website:

- THE MAYOR OF WASHINGTON DC HERSELF, MURIEL BOWSER, the NO-NONSENSE, KICK-MAKANDI, AIN'T-AFRAID-OF-YOU-Mr.TRUMP who had that GIGANTIC, (as in "MBOLO"), bright yellow, can-be-seen-from-space "BLACK LIVES MATTER" statement on the street leading to the WHITE HOUSE and renamed the street "BLACK LIVES MATTER AVENUE"!

Had to mention all of that, so that, when I tell you that, on JUNE 22nd 2020, they interviewed CLASS OF 2001's Ms KOUBE NGAAJE, (Daughter of Class of 1978's Ms Roseline Nzegge Ngaaje), you would be able to grasp the importance, magnitude and significance of the feat!
In her capacity as the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, DISTRICT ALLIANCE FOR SAFE HOUSING (which is the largest provider of safe housing for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in the DC-region), she so ELOQUENTLY and BRILLIANTLY articulated a SAD fact which may not have dawned on us, as we all anxiously try to keep ourselves SAFE from COVID-19 by "STAYING HOME", which is that, that very injunction can, paradoxically, be LETHAL instead, in cases where there's DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and ABUSE!
Really should just let you WATCH/LISTEN for yourself! Hopefully, you will be able to get past your CAPTIVATION with her highly impressive LOOKS, INTELLIGENCE and POISE to actually ADMIRING the AWESOME and INNOVATIVE WORK she is doing to make a palpable, DIFFERENCE-BETWEEN-LIFE-AND-DEATH impact!

On Thursday, July 2nd 2020, our very own MA CATHERINE MUSOKO, fondly and simply referred to by the tons of us, her deeply appreciative former SAKER BAPTIST COLLEGE (S.B.C.), BAPTIST TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGE (B.T.T.C.), and BAPTIST BOYS SECONDARY SCHOOL (B.B.S.S.) students as "MA'A", turned 96!!!!!!
That is something truly EXTRAORDINARY by any standard, more so when we consider the times and precarious season we are living in right now, when MANY are not even making the "expected" 3 score and 10!!!
In fact, if I'm not mistaken, (I certainly plan on making double/triple sure), she is now SAKER BAPTIST COLLEGE'S LONGEST LIVING AND SURVING TUTOR, having now lived past PIONEER PRINCIPAL, MA BERNEICE WESTERMAN'S remarkable 95 years!
Unlike last year's Birthday Celebration which was executed with admirable pomp and circumstance and which was graced by a visit from her now departed "younger brother" - MOLA NJOH LITUMBE (then 92), this year's birthday was more low key but every bit as SIGNIFICANT - if not more, given that it was marked by a PHILANTHROPIC visit by her SAKERETTE daughter, CLASS OF 1978's Mrs. SUSAN ELINGE MUSOKO EKOLLO and her son-in-law - CHIEF EKOLLO, to an ORPHANAGE in LOGBESOU - DOUALA!
Would be gravely remiss if I did not take out a couple of minutes to applaud CHIEF and Mrs. EKOLLO for the EXCEPTIONAL, OUTSTANDING and EXEMPLARY TENDER, LOVING CARE that they have showered our MA'A with - so sacrificially, selflessly, and unwaveringly throughout these twilight years of hers.
Far be it for me to speak for GOD, but I kind of think that they have really "ADDED DASH" to what even He expected from CHILDREN when He wrote the 5th of His 10 COMMANDMENTS upon those stone tablets back on Mount Sinai!!! VRAIMENT!

One of the lines on the card you sent out to mark this Birthday included this request: "PLEASE JOIN US IN PRAISING GOD FOR HER CONTINUED LONG AND BLESSED LIFE".
My guess is, it was primarily directed at those who were planning on actually accompanying you to the ORPHANAGE, since it was followed by a second request that PROTECTIVE GEAR be brought along; but TRUST ME:
There's a multitude of us who weren't there, physically, but who are only too happy to join you in the "PRAISING"!

The last time we were CONGRATULATING CLASS OF 1973's Dr. DORA SHU MBANYA (MD; PhD; FRCPath), it was over her being elected President, of the Africa Society for Blood Transfusion (AfSBT), and that, if my memory serves me right, preceded her appointment as DEAN of the UNIVERSITY OF BAMENDA's FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES.
Now, CONGRATULATIONS are once more in order because a July 3rd 2020 Presidential Decree has appointed her DIRECTOR GENERAL OF CAMEROON'S NATIONAL BLOOD TRANSFUSION CENTER, an appointment which she couldn't be more fitted for and competent to handle, given the fact that she is a BRILLIANT, SEASONED HAEMATOLOGIST with tons of experience.
So PROUD of you, Dear Sis Dora!

Having now retired after a LONG, FRUITFUL and COMPLETELY UNBLEMISHED, STERLING 30 career as a SEASONED EDUCATOR in her own right - with her BAPTIST BOYS SECONDARY SCHOOL, BILINGUAL GRAMMAR SCHOOL MOLYKO, the YAOUNDE PILOT CENTER and finally, the DOUALA BILINGUAL LANGUAGE CENTER students to attest to her prowess, - and with such a 10 YEAR, ROCK SOLID RECORD for ALCEF, I daresay this daughter has ALREADY diligently and brilliantly walked trillions of miles in her mother's footsteps!!! OH, YES, SHE HAS!!!
Devoid of any vantage "GO-YONDER-CAM-BACK"/"OBANJE" or "PROPHETESS" insight of any sort, I cannot just "purport" to know, with any degree of certainty, how much those who have gone on before us actually do know about the goings on in the world of the living me oh!
However, the story in the Bible about "POOR MAN LAZARUS" and the "RICH MAN" does give one reason to think that they do, at the very least, have some idea or inkling, which must be how the languishing-in-hell RICH MAN was able to tell that his "5 brethren" back on earth were NOT living as they should and thus BEG Fadah ABRAHAM to send Lazarus to ask them to "HEAR TWELVE"! (They say we should not kick a man when he's already down, and this dude is already in HELL, so let me just keep quiet! If not I would have chided him for attempting to just "send-send" dear "LAZA" anyhow, as if he were his "boy-boy"! After AAAALLL of Lazarus' SUFFAH on earth, instead of allowing the poor man to finally REST IN PEACE (in Abraham's bosom), he should first go "DIP HIS FINGAH IN DEH WATA" and "COOL HIS TONGUE" and then go back to Earth to warn his brothers! Tsuiiiip! Thank God Fadah Abraham "shinged" and denied BOTH requests!) SO SORRY FOR THE DIGRESSION ...

What you cannot and should not be absolved for, is FAILING TO READ PAGES 35 AND 36!!!
WHY????????
BECAUSE those 2 pages feature NINA FORGWE, a young 2001 - 2008 graduate of OUR LADY OF LOURDES COLLEGE, MANKON (CAMEROON) who was among the 200 brilliant Young Africans selected to attend the maiden OBAMA "EMERGING LEADERS" Conference that took place in JOHANNESBURG, in 2019.
Now, are you the kind of person who sees an article in a Magazine and only stops long enough to LOOK at the PICTURES and never makes it to actually READING the article itself?
Not judging you oh!
Just PLEADING that you make an EXCEPTION this time!

You cannot possibly know what the term "TO HUSTLE" really means, - IN ITS MOST POSITIVE SENSE, until you meet that girl!!!!

On June 30th 2020, a Presidential Decree No. 2020/353 was signed which promoted - or should I say "catapulted" CLASS OF 1988's BERYL ITOH PANJE from Regional Delegate in the ministry of women's empowerment in Buea, (a post she had been appointed to just a year before), to the lofty position of SECRETARY GENERAL in the ministry of social affairs.
She was installed on July 17th 2020, and as the posted pictures show, her "DYNAMITE" classmates and fellow ExSSANS were on hand to encourage and support her.
CONGRATULATIONS, Ma'am and GODSPEED in your new position!

LADY JUSTICE VERA NKWATE NGASSA!!!
CLASS OF 1980's LADY JUSTICE VERA NKWATE NGASSA has just been appointed to CAMEROON'S SUPREME COURT, which, as its name suggests, is the highest judicial body in the nation, - above the Courts of Appeal and the Tribunals!
She is, in fact the YOUNGEST Judge - Male or Female, to have been appointed to this very exclusive position, and I (strongly) believe, THE VERY FIRST SAKERETTE to rise to that lofty rank as well!!!!!
SakerPride had already featured her on its TRAIL BLAZERS Page some 6 years ago. ( ),
mentioning the following facts about her, amongst others:
- She was Procureur de la Republique (State Prosecutor) for meme Division 1998-2005, President High Court of Fako and Administrator General 2005-2007, President Court of First Instance Kumba 2007-2012.
- She was the Vice President of the Court of Appeals of the South West, Cameroon.
- She was also a university lecturer, and teaches ”Women, Law and Human Rights” at the Department of Women and Gender Studies, University of Buea.
- She is an International Faculty Member, Haggai Institute for Leadership Atlanta/Maui Hawaii USA.
- She is the author of several books including “Gender Approach to Court Actions” (Friedrich Eibert 1998), Gender Law Report (1999), Co-author “Issues in Women’s Land Rights” (2012) and “ Cameroon Women’s Land Rights Handbook” (Commonwealth 2013). In her work with women, she travels extensively, speaking on gender issues, including two appearances before the UN Committee on the Status of Women.
- She is passionate about women’s rights and as a self-styled judicial activist she has broken new ground in the area of women’s property rights and violence against women. Part of her work in prosecuting Gender Based Violence is featured in the award-winning BBC Documentary “Sisters in Law.” (The film which has won 15 international awards was short-listed for the Oscars in 2007), AND
- She holds a License en Droit from the University of Yaoundé, a post-graduate degree in Magistracy from ENAM and an LLLM With Distinction from Georgetown University Law Centre, Washington DC.

MIDDLE FARMS ELDER, MOTHER OF 5: 1 SON and 4 DAUGHTERS - ALL OF THEM SAKERETTES like herself, GRAND MOTHER OF 4 ... are just SOME of the "titles" she already wore with great PRIDE but the one that has now catapulted her into the INTERNATIONAL LIMELIGHT, - to the point that the BBC PIDGIN NEWS had to jump into the "mattah" is the astonishing title of "CHEVENING SCHOLAR"!

Her being granted the PRESTIGIOUS BRITISH CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP to take on a MASTER'S IN EDUCATION, POWER & SOCIAL CHANGE at BIRBECK UNIVERSITY in the UNITED KINGDOM ... at AGE 68, makes her THE OLDEST WOMAN the U.K. GOVERNMENT has selected for the program! (She doesn't look a day over 45, so they probably made their academic credentials-based decision before dem wan take eye see Birth Certificate!!! LOL!!!)

September 28th, 2019 was a Saturday, and it was definitely not an ordinary one for CLASS OF 1975's Mrs. HANNAH HADDISON WILLIAMS and her "CAT", our "MOYO" Mr. WILLIAMS.
It was the day their BEAUTIFUL daughter, GEORGIANA, (who, I very strongly suspect, is named after her MATERNAL GRAND PA - the one and only PA GEORGE HADDISON, aka "PA HADDIE", quintessential, polished gentleman and erstwhile Tutor at SAKER BAPTIST COLLEGE VICTORIA & BTTC SOPPO ), married GUISEPPI, her knight in shining armor, and became known to the world as Mrs. DOMINGUEZ!
Saw the wedding pictures and went "WOW", not only because of the gainliness and subdued sophistication of the Handsome couple, but also because of the tasteful and "LESS-IS-MORE-CHIC-NESS" of everything from the Bride's Bouquet to the Groom's cuff links! Talk about CLASS!!!!
Think I am the only one who was wowed? NOPE!

"It is hard to describe what I feel - scared, nervous, but mostly terribly excited. A year ago the word Chevening was not one I had heard before. Today, I am honored to have been chosen for this amazing opportunity to study in a country and at an institution I admire.
My heartfelt thanks goes to CAMCHEV, my Programme Officers, Birbeck University of London and my family and friends who have all gone above and beyond to support me through what at times was a grueling process. They encouraged me through all my worries and doubts and have helped me to see it is never too late to follow your dreams.
I would like to extend hearty congratulations to my fellow grantees and my gratitude to the Foreign and Common Wealth Office for facilitating such a relevant and inclusive program. I cannot wait to get started on my course and look forward to the subsequent task of developing education and social practice in Cameroon.

That would naturally make you think that, like the rest of us, fellow LOVERS OF WAKA, the TRAVEL BANS that COVID-19 infested 2020 has served us, she must be miserable and languishing over having to be GROUNDED, all year long!
However, if you really KNOW ETHEL CASPA, you would know she doesn't let "things" slow her roll. NOT AT ALL!
Not being able to travel PHYSICALLY, she created away for herself and the many of us who do LOVE GLOBE TROTTING to still travel - but VIRTUALLY!!!
How did she accomplish that?

Now, as if that were not IMPRESSIVE enough, ah onley wan wake'up dis sha-sharp morning, see NOTIFICATION from FACEBOOK, letting me know I have been "TAGGED" on a post.
Thought it would just be someone saying "HAPPY SUNDAY". IT WASN'T!!!!
What I saw is something that caused few bia-bias left on the backhead of this MA'A who has always had a PHOBIA for STEERING anything with WHEELS - from TRICYCLE to MOTO CAR, to stand straight up!
In fact, the rest of the MA'A followed suit and STOOD, ROD STRAIGHT at ATTENTION, to SALUTE the BOLDNESS, BRAVERY and ADVENTUROUS PENCHANT of this DAME who has now, at age 50, decide to join PETER & PAUL - the proverbial BLACKBIRDS in our PRIMARY SCHOOL NURSERY RHYME, and FLY HER OWN BAD SELF!!!!!
Remember, I didn't say I saw a PICTURE of the FLIGHT! (Any man fit wake'up snaff inside cockpit nor? Puh-lease!!!)
I said I saw a VIDEO of it!
And if anyone - MALE or FEMALE wants to say "NA SOMTING DAT??", please, KINDLY PRODUCE ya own VIDEO, make we CLAP FOR YOU!!!!
Right now, the only SAKERETTE I have SEEN ON VIDEO (wit ma 2 naket eyes) FLYING any aircraft, is this ETHEL CASPA, and I wasn't about to go to Church without saying something!
Maybe I should just seize the opportunity to SALUTE my (NON-SAKERETTE) Little Sisters ONEE AGBORSANGAYA MAROADI who is a Trained and Certified AIRFORCE PILOT and CHRISTIE NJEUMA - an equally trained and certified AIRLINE PILOT!

Originally from Cameroon, West Africa, Geena Ngaaje has become a household name in the Dallas dance community. She is an accomplished choreographer, performer, and creative director. Over the last 20 years she has spent a great part of her career creating opportunities for dancers to discover, develop, and deploy their passion for dance.
A visionary dance leader, she pioneered the Dallas Hip-Hop Dance Festival in 2012, Legacy Hip-Hop Dance Convention, and HYPE Choreographers Showcase. She is also the owner and master choreographer of Hip Hop Heels.
Geena and her endeavors have been featured on Fit Trip with Kimberly Westphall, Good Morning Texas, Fox 4 Good Day, The Dallas Morning News, The Dallas Examiner, WFAA Daybreak, and Al Extremo. Some of her dance and choreography credits include Black Eyed Peas/Super Bowl XLV, Alter’d Ego, CNN Fit Nation, Miss Africa USA, Texas Legends Dancers, The Sideline Group, Chinatown Band, recording artist Torsha Lynn, Cowboys Club, and Christmas at the Cathedral.
Most recently Geena accepted a position with Elevate Life Church in Frisco as the Production Director. Whether she’s in front of a camera or behind it, she gets the most joy and fulfillment in inspiring others to create a life worth dancing for.
